Who orders trade cills, trims and accessories?
Mostly window and door installers, property maintenance companies and builders and main contractors. Typical uses include finishing replacement windows; bay and bow window installations; site stock for installers.
Ordering cills and trims with the windows means they can be colour-matched to the frames and arrive on the same delivery.
Cills are ordered by depth from the frame face to the front edge, and by finished length including any horns past the reveals.
Bay and bow windows need couplers or baypoles at the joints. Tell us the angle and number of facets and we supply the right parts.
Frame fixings and packers keep frames square and fixed properly. Use fixings suited to the wall material.
How should you measure?
Order cills by depth and finished length; add the horn length each side if the cill extends past the reveal.
Which building regulations apply?
On doors and windows tested to PAS 24, replace hardware like for like so the tested combination is kept. Escape windows must still give their full clear opening, so any restrictor or stay needs a release catch.
Wales
Replace hardware like for like on doors and windows certified to PAS 24, and keep any restrictor on an escape window releasable so the full clear opening is available.
Scotland
Replace hardware like for like on doors and windows tested to PAS 24, and keep any restrictor on an escape window releasable so the full clear opening is available.
Northern Ireland
Replace hardware like for like on doors and windows tested to PAS 24, and keep any restrictor on an escape window releasable so the full clear opening is available.
