Trade aluminium bifold doors in Northumberland

Ordering aluminium bifold doors for jobs in Northumberland

The opening above a bifold carries the weight, so the lintel must be level and stiff enough. Check this with the builder before the doors arrive.

Bifold doors are specified by overall width, number of panels and how they fold. Your quote shows the configuration so you can check it against the opening before production.

Building regulations in England

Replacement external doors in England should meet a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K under Approved Document L. Glass in doors and side panels below 1500mm is a critical location under Approved Document K, so it must break safely (toughened or laminated to BS EN 12600), be robust or in small panes, or be permanently protected. Doors into new homes also need to meet Approved Document Q for security, which is usually shown with PAS 24. Replacing a door that is more than half glazed is notifiable building work, self-certified through a competent person scheme or approved by building control.

Before anything goes into production you get a written order acknowledgement with sizes, finishes and handing for every item. Check it carefully, because made-to-measure items cannot be returned if the sizes were wrong.
