Trade uPVC tilt and turn windows in Northumberland

Ordering uPVC tilt and turn windows for jobs in Northumberland

For bedrooms that need an escape window, a tilt and turn sash can give a large clear opening from a single sash. Give us the clear opening you need; the quote shows the clear opening the sash gives, and your installer confirms it meets the escape requirement.

Tilt and turn windows are a common choice where the outside of the glass cannot be reached, because the sash turns fully into the room for cleaning.

Specification at a glance

• Child-safe and restrictor options
• Trickle vents where specified
• Concealed or surface hinges depending on the system
• Large sash sizes for escape openings

Building regulations in England

Replacement windows in England should meet Approved Document L: a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or a Window Energy Rating of band B. Approved Document F expects background ventilation to be no worse than before, which usually means trickle vents. Glazing in critical locations must break safely, be robust or in small panes, or be permanently protected under Approved Document K, which in practice usually means toughened or laminated safety glass. Rooms that need an escape route may need an escape window under Approved Document B. Replacing windows is notifiable building work: the installer self-certifies through a competent person scheme such as FENSA or Certass, or the work goes through building control.

Before anything goes into production you get a written order acknowledgement with sizes, finishes and handing for every item. Check it carefully, because made-to-measure items cannot be returned if the sizes were wrong.
