Building regulations in England
Replacement external doors in England should meet a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K under Approved Document L. Glass in doors and side panels below 1500mm is a critical location under Approved Document K, so it must break safely (toughened or laminated to BS EN 12600), be robust or in small panes, or be permanently protected. Doors into new homes also need to meet Approved Document Q for security, which is usually shown with PAS 24. Replacing a door that is more than half glazed is notifiable building work, self-certified through a competent person scheme or approved by building control.
Before anything goes into production you get a written order acknowledgement with sizes, finishes and handing for every item. Check it carefully, because made-to-measure items cannot be returned if the sizes were wrong.
Aluminium bifold doors in Cornwall: common questions
Do you supply aluminium bifold doors across all of Cornwall?
Yes. We deliver throughout Cornwall, and the charge for your postcode is shown on the quote.
Which building regulations apply to jobs in Cornwall?
The rules for England apply. You can specify aluminium bifold doors to suit, and the performance values are stated on your quote. Your installer or designer remains responsible for compliance and any notification.
How do I get trade prices for Cornwall?
Send your schedule through the quote form or by email, and apply for a trade account if you do not already have one.
Do bifolds fold inward or outward?
Either. Outward folding is more common because it keeps the panels out of the room.
Can you match the colour to aluminium windows?
Yes. Order them together in the same RAL colour.
